Farewell 2020

As the last few hours of the year wind down, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on what a year it has been.  There is no denying that 2020 has been a difficult year for many people throughout the world – the pandemic has canceled weddings, graduations, and many other monumental events; prevented families from seeing one another; and of course, many of us have lost friends and loved ones to this terrible virus.

However, these last six months since the office opened its doors have been pretty amazing as well.  I am quite proud of the work that has been accomplished during that time.  Despite the pandemic, the law moves forward; while court appearances turned virtual and more closings have taken place by mail than not, legal services have still effectively been provided.

Years from now, many will look back on 2020 with cynical jokes and sadness.  However, I for one will always remember this as the year where, despite unexpected circumstances, I opened a law office in my hometown.  When I think of that, I will smile.

Happy New Year, everyone.  May 2021 bring us all a renewed sense of optimism and hope for our common good.
