A Different Type of Thanksgiving

I think it is safe to say that Thanksgiving 2020 is not coming together quite in the fashion that anyone expected. While many of us planned on spending last night visiting with friends and family that were back in town for the holiday, even more planned on having that annual turkey dinner with extended family. Instead, here we sit with restrictions on our Thanksgiving holiday – in some locales as few as six family members sitting around the banquet table. In my mother’s family growing up, four of the kids would have been stuck outside I suppose…

However, I encourage you to consider something different today. Instead of dwelling on how Thanksgiving has not gone has planned, think instead of what you really do have to be thankful for. More so than other years, do not take the holiday for granted – give a call to a friend or neighbor you wouldn’t have spent the day with; have a more intimate conversation over turkey with the family you do get to enjoy today with; and above all, think of how much more meaningful the next “traditional” Thanksgiving will be.

I for one am very thankful this year – good health, wonderful friends and family, and a great little country law practice ready to suit the needs of its clients. To all of my friends, family, and clients reading this post – and especially those clients that are enjoying their first Thanksgiving in their new homes! – have a very Happy Thanksgiving .
